With the deepening development of network society, the entire ecosystem of Internet is reconstructed by the platform. A platform - based digital economy circulation model is prevailing, known as "platform capitalism". In order to understand the "digital platform” and the mediated society characterized by "platformization” from the perspective of media studies, this dissertation deconstructs and analyzes the digital platform from a political economy of communication approach, tries to discuss the questions of why the network society has beer pluralistc and disributed no more, and then what course to follow; How do political and economic powers permeate in the platformizational process and which are present in the form of platform capitalism; How the status of the netizens under the platform logic be established, and how there are involved in the current capitalist production and exploitation mechanism; As an important section of the production of social ideology, how can the media culture and entertainment industry become platformization under the influence of platform capitalism. The first chapter of this dissertation analyzes the transformation of Internet from Web1.0 to Web2.0, which reflects the process of Internet technology transformation from technology innovation to technology application. Led by the concept of "interoperability" and "interactivity" in Web2.0, digital platforms have become the driving force of the social restructure in Internet mediated society. Digital platform has multiple dimensions of technology, economy, politics and society. Meanwhile, The innovation diffusion and technical discourse of social media have interactive effect of each other. This chapter suggests that the installation and development of new media technology have shaped by social powers in old systems, especially by the capital as the critical factor. Meanwhile, technical discourse changed followed the process of innovation diffusion, from the phase of anti-mainstream, empowerment, new economic to legalization. By the consequence, social media discourse legitimate the surveillance capitalism, the meaning of democracy be weakened. The second chapter analyzes how digital scarce resources are manipulated and utilized in the new digital environment that enhances monopoly powers and increase social inequality. There are six ways of digital enclosure for platform companies to acquire digital scarce resources: 1. Privatizing big data; 2. Expropriating user-generated content for free; 3. Constructing subjective and objective connectivity; 4. Scale development of Networks; 5. Attention mining; 6. Building reusable infrastructures and scenario developments. This chapter reveals that the privatization and uneven distribution of digital capital are causing and exacerbating the digital inequality of platform power and digital network society. The third chapter discusses the new forms and changes of digital labor in platform economies. It is believed that in the trend of platform economy, the production mode and production relationship of knowledge workers have changed. The agglomeration of social practices and the reorganization of social powers have reconstituted the labor structure and value added modes in the knowledge society. With the support of digital platform, digital media users are involved in the digital media value chains, serving the production, consumption and market segments. The popularity of new economies, such as platform economy and gig economy, gave birth to a society called "post-work society", where distributed capitalism flourished. Platform economies contribute to the formation of new value chain, and formed the new interest circulation network model, which by means of platform, based on data resources, taking digital labor as productivity, taking network value network as the structure. The cultural industry has its particularity and is the production department of social ideology and social collective memory. In the fourth chapter, the paper discusses the transformation of the cultural industry under different platform economy modes. Combined with empirical examples such as the platform evolution of the game industry and the entertainment platform under Chinese context, this chapter discusses how the digital platform restructures the cultural industry. It also reveals that the power of commercial capital under the platform economy mode will further erode the cultural production process. The monopoly of the cultural market may lead to a conflict between surveillance and privacy. Meanwhile, the cultural development driven by commercial power will lead to a disaster in which the public space is rapidly occupied by commercial space in the short term. In addition, the relationship between platform and globalization is also worth to explore. Under the trend of neoliberal globalization, the penetration of technology companies in all industries predicts a globalization of platform economy based on data and platform technologies. The chapter four discusses the monopoly logic and centralization system of platform capitalism. Platform capitalism rely on digital infrastructure and information productive forces, which is a kind of deepening form of capitalism in the era of digital economy. Platform capitalism has become the dominant logic of the net economy society with several manifestations: firstly, platform discourses become the cognitive paradigm of the net economy society. Secondly, the monopoly state of platform oligopolies has been gradually formed. Thirdly, the "Internet of things" platform has become common strategies for real economy platformization. Meanwhile, the characteristics of digital platform technology and platform economy have deepened the monopoly logic of platform capitalism: firstly, the resources of "information" and "relationship" are centralized on the industrial supply side. Secondly, the platform can realize the "carrier effect" and form a nested platform hierarchy system. Thirdly, the platform companies have undertaken the reaping of the multiple markets, and the capitalist power systems of platform capitalism have been built. Finally, this paper finds that the digital platform has become the mediated force in the current network society. Platform powers are formed in this process. The current popular platform economy is a kind of monopoly capitalism and digital capability is the endogenous demand of platform capitalism. The commercialization and monopolization of digital platforms throws a great threat to the information security and public interests of the entire society. It is naive to place public interest on the self-ethical constraints of private platform companies. Indulging business platform oligarchs to form monopoly control over public communications infrastructure will threaten the vital interests of the general public. This article advocates that the monopoly of digital platforms should be constrained in a proper way. A rich and diverse humanized communication ecosystem should be constructed. A competitive market competition mechanism and an equitable and diverse network public space should also be constructed. Keywords Digital platform; Platform capitalism; Platform economy; Digital labour; Political economy of communication
